Kloé Hotel: A sanctuary to dream, listen, and remember in Kuala Lumpur

At the heart of Kuala Lumpur, where the city dances between Malaysian tradition and modernity, Kloé Hotel stands as a poetic interlude, a true sanctuary for creatives seeking rest and inspiration. Here, every detail is an invitation to slow down, to listen, and to feel. It is not just a hotel, but a unique experience conceived by Ng Ping Ho and designed by Domaine Architects.

The Hotel dreamed up by Ng Ping Ho: when concrete whispers stories

Ng Ping Ho’s bold vision comes to life in the heart of Malaysia’s bustling capital. Born from a single ambition; to create a space where creativity and serenity blend with local craftsmanship and contemporary design, Kloé Hotel fosters a harmonious dialogue that unfolds gently. Opened in 2020 in the vibrant Bukit Bintang district of KL, Kloé Hotel is a place that celebrates local craftsmanship and talent, transforming its lobby into a living showcase of Malaysian creativity.

Domaine Architects has skillfully married the clean lines of raw concrete with soothing duck-egg blue and sage green hues, crafting an atmosphere that is both modern and warm. The raw materials, concrete, brick, wood, and metal, are elevated by bespoke pieces created by local artisans, making Kloé more than just a hotel; it is a hub for creative minds.

A U of serenity: when space embraces light

The walls of Kloé Hotel tell stories. Adorned with contemporary art, photographs, and graphic designs that capture the eye and nourish the imagination, the architecture is designed as a U around a central courtyard and pool, inviting natural light to flood the common areas and guest rooms. Open corridors and green walls allow air to circulate throughout the building, creating a timeless sense of calm. Here, time seems to stand still, making way for what truly matters.

Kloé is a tribute to local artists and design. Every object, texture, and color has been carefully chosen to evoke emotion and transport the traveler. The 85 rooms, including five unique "Artist lofts," are invitations to explore the many facets of Kloé. Each space is a collaboration, such as those with Chef Sarah Huang Benjamin and artist Joee Cheong, who have lent their personal touch to this singular place.

The melody of wood and leather: A suite to lose yourself in music

One of the five "Artist Lofts," the Room to Listen, is a haven for music lovers. From the moment you step inside, a warm and intimate atmosphere envelops you. The room is dominated by a sleek, timeless vinyl turntable, seamlessly integrated into a mid-century cabinet. Accompanied by its eclectic vinyl collection, it invites travelers to immerse themselves in the notes and layers of music the suite promises. Curated by Rudy La Faber, the selection spans jazz, hip-hop, rock, grunge, and Japanese City Pop.

Discreetly embedded speakers fill the space with melodies, transforming the room into a private stage where light and music create a unique ambiance. The walls, adorned with art, extend the hotel’s lobby aesthetic, while natural materials like wood and leather add warmth and softness. Silky textiles invite relaxation, completing the sensory experience.

Here, you don’t just sleep, you remember yourself

When every detail is crafted to create an immersive experience, the senses awaken to the rhythm of the music, the touch of textures, and the subtle scents lingering in the air. The Room to Listen is one of those places where you feel at home, where you can drift into reverie, cradled by music and surrounded by beauty.

With its warm ambiance and meticulous attention to detail, taking time for oneself is not just welcome, it is essential. The sunken chamber beckons self-care, and the bathtub opening into the room invites you to indulge in a moment of pure well-being. High-end body products enhance this sense of relaxation as notes drift through the air and bubbles dance to the rhythm of the music. A silky robe glides over damp skin as the traveler enjoys a selection of Asian and local snacks thoughtfully provided by the hotel, where every detail is considered.

The room, framed by two floor-to-ceiling windows in the heart of Bukit Bintang, is bathed in a unique atmosphere as night falls. The city’s effervescence contrasts with the melodies spinning on the turntable, creating a suspended moment that calls for savoring time, a rare luxury in such a frenetic city.

A parentheses where music and time embrace

At Kloé Hotel, you don’t just come to sleep, you come to live an experience. The Room to Listen embodies this philosophy: a space where music, art, and comfort converge to create a deep sense of well-being. Here, every moment is an invitation to reconnect with yourself, to listen to your desires, and to savor the present.

Kloé Hotel is more than a stopover; it is a destination in itself, a refuge where you feel at home, where every detail is a caress for the soul. It is an experience to be lived, a melody to be heard, and a memory to be cherished. A tribute to Kuala Lumpur, its artisans, and the art of slow living.
